Attributing a claim to its source

Distinguish the writer’s claim from a reported opinion. Ifølge introduces a source; says or believes does not establish the reported claim’s truth.

The rule, step by step

Summarise an attributed opinion without making it a fact endorsed by the text.
Retain the speaker, certainty and any condition.
An initial Ifølge rapporten is followed by the main verb before the subject.
