Make adjectives agree with noun gender and number.

Bokmål · nb-NO
GRAMMATIKK · BOKMÅL

Adjective agreement

Adjectives change with the noun: en varm jakke, et varmt rom, varme klær.

The rule, step by step

  1. Use the basic form in en varm jakke. Many adjectives add -t with a neuter noun: et varmt rom.
  2. Many adjectives add -e in the plural: varme rom. Agreement also applies after er.
  3. There are exceptions such as liten → lite → små, and adjectives without -t. Not every adjective follows the basic pattern.

Sentence pattern

en varm jakke · et varmt rom · varme klær
